MURAL FOR MR.SAIGON BANH MI // COMMISSION 2019
Located in Pioneer Square, Seattle WA
Mr. Saigon is a Vietnamese restaurant with multiple locations in Seattle, WA. I was commissioned by the owner to paint two indoor murals for his Pioneer Square location.
The concept for the first mural was to create a portrait of a woman in a straw hat with an overall Vietnamese aesthetic and a nod to the city of Saigon. At the base of the mural, an outdoor eating scene which includes tiny chairs and a table which is common in Vietnam due to the prevalence of pop-up street restaurants.
For the second mural, I tied in stylistic elements from the other existing murals in the restaurant and created some characters and lettering to represent the owners background of bringing Saigon to Seattle and the two places merging.
